Technologies Will Change World of Artificial Lighting in the Nearest Future
Nowadays the main trend is a rapid development of new technologies. If it goes about lighting engineering it is the LED systems of lighting. These days Ukraine is consuming even more LED lamps than Russia or the countries of the Baltic region. The “ELOTEK” group is the leader of manufacturing and selling the LED systems of lighting in Ukraine. Until recently the development department of the company was engaged in questions concerning the LED systems. Later there was the “LED systems of lighting” department created. The head of the branch– Igor Zhuk- tells about the department’s goals and their goods’ peculiarities. - Igor, please tell us how the “LED systems of lighting” department appeared in the “ELOTEK” group. - The company management got interested in semi-conducting sources of light long ago. And our analytical department conducted a research not so long ago which proved this trend to be very promising in Ukraine. And we decided to launch this project. First we found some foreign partners whose goods we started to offer to Ukrainian customers. But the price of the lamps with the LEDs manufactured abroad was high, if to put it mildly. Then we started to look for ways to manufacture LED lamps that would be of the quality competitive with foreign samples but of reasonable price. As a result at the “Lumen” factory in Brovary, which belongs to the “ELOTEK” group, there was special equipment installed and the first LED lamp models were produced “by request”. Later we designed several types of LED lamps that we began to offer to customers. They were in such demand that it exceeded all our expectations; the production volume has increased several times more only within the last six months! It has caused the necessity to get more people involved in the project (in the beginning only two people in the company dealt with the LED systems). At the moment we have stepped into a new stage of development. - What about the department’s staff? - We have highly-qualified specialists: designers working in 3D-Max and Pialux, electronics engineers, design engineers, managers and operating personnel. These are the people who are not only professionals, but they are also devoted to work as the LEDs have become a great part of their lives. Our specialists can provide the whole range of services including lamp designing, selecting elements and spare parts, manufacturing, delivery and installation. By the way our staff is almost filled up except for LED lighting projects sellers, who should be competent in techniques. And we are offering work on a competitive basis to those who would like to test oneself in this position. - What is special about your LED lamps? - We have our own production line where they are manufactured. While assembling we use only parts of high quality and we give guarantee for our integrated products. Our lamps are cheaper than similar foreign goods, but the products quality meets the world standards. We manufacture production-run lamps as well as made “by request” ones: practically of any shape, size, configuration and color taking into consideration a customer’s requests. We work in close cooperation with the lighting engineering department of National Aircraft University, where we test out lamps. Having processed the measurement data our specialists created computer-simulated models of the most popular lamps what facilitated the designers’ work – now they are able to depict natural light effects while working on a project. We manufacture products according to customers’ demand. Within the last six months we have extended our models variety, we are constantly broadening our assortment, improving the design. Among the latest I would like to mention: - SPRUT-2 DS STATIC is a compact led lamp used in lighting the interiors, front elements of buildings and other objects. The peculiarity of this lamp is preconditioned by its form – the rays disperse and with the help of it create a unique effect of a lit column. Using the lenses with the angles of dispersion of 6, 30 and 50 degree, it is possible to receive light beams of different direction. As well as with all the other lamps produced by the group of companies “Elotek”, here you can use different colors of led lights, to use milk and transparent glass and a wide color spectrum of the body of the lamp creating a unique lamp with the necessary technical characteristics. - SPRUT-3 GR (chrome-plated brass) is an ideal lamp for the exterior decorative lighting, landscape lighting and illumination of pools and fountains. The precious glitter of the chrome-plated cover will be a wonderful decoration for any object and highlight its luxury and individuality. This lamp is produced in two variants – with a static mode of light and with the RGB light. - ELINE-15 GL is distinguished by its peculiar form, i.e. a transparent acryl envelope. Due to this innovation, the lamp became lighter in weight and more compact in comparison with its aluminum predecessor. It also corresponds to all modern tendencies in the design of lighting equipment. There are three variants of this lamp – with the static mode of light, with the RGB light and with BICOLOR. - What is the LED-technologies development potential in Ukraine? - The LED lamps have already started to replace the sources of light which were used to lighten facades, swimming-pools, etc before. They are frequently used as an architectural, landscape and decorative lighting. Now the LEDs are about to become a part of the interior lighting. I think, in the nearest future these technologies will transform the artificial lighting world. - And in view of the aforesaid what are the goals of the “LED systems of lighting” department which you are heading at the moment? - Developing, designing new models and supplying customers with goods of high quality which they can use to solve problems concerning lighting engineering. And in order to facilitate work of designers who are engaged in the lighting design we are creating a web-site where they can find information about our lamps which can be useful while working on lighting engineering projects.
